Thanks Michael,

Perhaps I read this incorrectly (always a possibility), but the inference was that a charger would be necessary, as with any battery operated camera.

Yet the charger is an option. Doesn't one come with the body when purchased?

Thanks,

Jerry

Jerry, dont worry .....these are just replacement parts only with the M8 you get a charger incl. car and 3 main adapters. an extra Li-onbattery would be welcome though.

just dl the product info here: http://www.leica-camera.us/photography/m_system/m8/

Does anyone know if the original M series viewfinder accessories, diopter correction, magnifier etc. will fit the M8 and universal finder. If not that means a new magnifier, correction lens for it, correction lens for camera and correction lens for viewfinder ....

My dealer's price list gives different numbers and prices for M8 versions as do the pdf files on Leica's site.

This was the important part right here on the battery . That is a very good number of exposures

To keep the LEICA M8 permanently at the ready for a good photo even on long reportage trips, it's always advisable to take a spare battery. The powerful lithium-ion battery M8 has the capacity for about 575 exposures (as per CIPA test conditions) and only takes 200 minutes to charge. The M8 charger can be used in nearly any country and automatically adapts to the charge of the battery to ensure its long life. A 12-24 volt car adapter cable is also supplied

Thanks Michiel, I had seen that documentation. However the part numbers on those lists are the same as the latest list my dealer has, but different form an earlier one. In fact the M8 viewfinder accessory prices are lower than previous M ones in his catalog. So I guess it's a wait and see situation.

Yes, everything will work. Leica occasionally changes their part numbering, and it's also possible that they have changed some other aspect of these accessories, like the packaging, or the grip surface on the edge of a corrector lens. But since the new parts are compatible with the M7 and MP, they'll also work with an M6 or M4 or M3.
