wizard Posted June 29, 2006 Share #4 Posted June 29, 2006 Wow, Martin, this must be the best shot I've seen from you so far, and by all means a wonderful capture! I love it!! I tried cropping the image at the left (cut away some of that dark area) and in my view it looks even better then, what do you think? Cheers, Andy

Guest maddin Posted June 29, 2006 Share #6 Posted June 29, 2006 Thanks a lot - very encouraging indeed! Posting family is quite a delicate thing to do - what might be enjoyable in the eyes of the photographer could very well be boring for others. I tried cropping the image at the left (cut away some of that dark area) and in my view it looks even better then, what do you think? Andy Andy: yes, that might work. i assume you only cut away on the left leaving the height the same, right? Erl: yep, but it is a darn difficult thing to handle. shame on me: i have to admit that i just sold it to get the 50lux asph. however, i do know that it is in very good hands now making the loss a bit more bearable (pathetic, i know)
odd Posted June 29, 2006 Share #7 Posted June 29, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Very nice photo! Have you tried to burne out the white areas on the right? - OM

gareth_c Posted June 29, 2006 Share #9 Posted June 29, 2006 A magical image. Make sure it is archived as I am sure the young girl will treasure that picture when she is older.
wizard Posted June 29, 2006 Share #10 Posted June 29, 2006 Martin, " i assume you only cut away on the left leaving the height the same, right?" Correct! The result would be almost square, as if taken on 6x6 (and normally I am not a big fan of square format), but here it does add concentration by putting your little girl somewhat out of the center of the image, which creates an interesting interaction (in my view at least) between your daughter's face and the reflection of the light on the wall. stuny Posted June 29, 2006 Share #11 Posted June 29, 2006 Martin - As well as having excellent exposure, focus and framing (though I'd prefer a bit cropped from the left), the photo is utterly charming. Stuart
clogwog Posted June 29, 2006 Share #12 Posted June 29, 2006 Great picture, love it the way it is, if you were going to crop it consider cropping the right side. It really forces you to focus on the subject thanks Gerrit

odd Posted June 30, 2006 Share #14 Posted June 30, 2006 dear odd, i am not quite sure what you mean. please help me understand. thanks. This is of curse a matter of taste and you should make the photo the way you like it, but if you do not mind, this is my suggestion. Regards Odd Welcome, dear visitor! Guest maddin Posted June 30, 2006 Share #15 Posted June 30, 2006 Thanks Odd, don't worry - i am not that touchy:) now i know what you mean. yes, that could work as well. i feel however that the reflection gives a bit orientation and adds a bit x-mas warmth. (i don't know how to describe this better in english) eventually only the large size print will tell. cheers & thanks
skass Posted June 30, 2006 Share #16 Posted June 30, 2006 Wonderful photo. Very enjoyable. And I do like the light off to the right. Steve
