When she came up for air, I froze...... until I was twelve feet away.

imported_peter_m Posted May 9, 2008 Share #3 Posted May 9, 2008 Al, I assume you didn't have your furry friend along, in my experience belly crawls and big dog's don't mix. Its a great new game The effort paid off. Peter

wildlightphoto Posted May 10, 2008 Share #5 Posted May 10, 2008 Well done, Albert. This is a great example of how good field techniques can substitute for a lot of focal length.

albert Posted May 12, 2008 Author Share #7 Posted May 12, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) All five of you....Thank you very much. This is a very rare bird and totally wild. When she finally caught me looking at her she was gone in a flash....and a splash. Al
stuny Posted May 13, 2008 Share #8 Posted May 13, 2008 Al - Excellent stalking technique and excellent photographic results. If you ever see wild giraffe getting ready to drink you will see exceptionally cautious behavior so that they are not surprised while their heads are down. albert Posted May 13, 2008 Author Share #9 Posted May 13, 2008 Stuart, Thanks much. I couldn't believe that I didn't have my spotting scope in the car.....just the litttle C-Lux. Typical. I have always wanted to get close to a Trumpeter Swan and it happened at the most unexpected time. Al
