Canada Goose

I was taking pictures of cliff swallows at the stream bed when I heard honking across the pond. I swung the lens around and found this goose. I was lucky to get this flight shot. Even though it's not a good picture with the poor lighting (sun behind the clouds) and dull background, I was so happy to get this shot that I had to share it. :)

Canon 1Ds3 with Leica 800/5.6 + 1.4x (or 2x, I'm not sure which) extenders at ISO 3200

Thanks for looking,

Peter, way too critical on yourself, that is an outstanding shot.

The way you have caught the wing at just the right angle and extension is extraordinary.

I think the diffuse nature of the light is an ideal counterpoint to the bird. Too often we see this type of shot against a searing blue sky whereas I think the background patterning creates a nice contrast to the bird while not creating a distraction. Does it get better than this?

Al, Azzo, Pete, Des, Peter, and John,

Thank you all for your encouraging comments.

"It's not a good picture"... yes PP, this is very average, for you that is. However; for the rest of us............ :D

Well done. :)

Pete, I wish my average is this good. Since a lot more than half the pictures get deleted, my average is good enough for ... a trash can. :)

Peter
