The buffer is the camera's hardware, so a faster card will help, but only to a certain point.

I am to actually. Im not sure if it was the next FW or not, but that it was in the works. I only heard this and I trust the source. Thats all. I dont really care I have no problems as is.

Those high-cap cards to me are just a bigger basket to put all your eggs in. I'd rather carry a pocket full of little, cheap 2gigers. Even the M8 with the stupid need to take of the bottom plate to change cards (really, it's not like the friggin thing makes it weather sealed) isn't that big a deal to change cards every 180 shots. That would of been five film roll changes! Plus like was said, the M8's buffer (and burst rate) are to slow to really take advantage of high-cap fast cards.

It is my understanding that the HC cards have faster "burst" speeds but they may not have faster "continuous write speeds." They are better for video recording . . . but their superiority for photos is debatable. They generally have higher total capacities but that's not a big issue for me. I like smaller capacities in case of a loss or hardware failure.

Does the SDHC media in general have faster write/read times?

If not, I'm happy with my 4 Gig Transcend cards.

 

For some reason my Transcend 133x is much faster than the 150x . I can shoot 11 pictures in succession before the buffer is full shooting RAW. For the 133x it takes about 35 sec or so to clear after the last shot. My 150x takes about 50 seconds before the red light stops flashing.

 

That said, I don't ever take 11 shots in succession with the M8, I was only curious how many shots I could squeeze in before the buffer is full. If I want to take some continuous shooting I'll go with my DSLR.

 

Hi to me burst rate is not important at all. I will still use camera as I did with film camera. But no winding lever. I will think carefully B4 press shutter.

To me its capacity is important. If 16/32 gb SDHC is supported I am going to buy one so I do`nt need to remove bottom cover ever. But not really battery need to be replaced, too.

So I will test how many picture I will take with one battery. If it does not reach 2g card I will not even bother getting 16gb or 32 gb card. Maybe 4g will be OK.
