rob_x2004 Posted September 13, 2006 Share #1 Posted September 13, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) South and west from Vang Vieng. Find a new half built bridge and a road to nowhere and you've got the spot. Hey white man, you just knob off into that rice paddy with your camera for a couple of hours and get your photos. Joe and me, we'll take real good care of all your gear. Hey Curly, the dick's still here. You see all the clean water this guy is carrying? I can't wait to get it home. Reckon we'll turn a buck from his bidons too. Sure beats catching tiny frogs and tiny crabs and tiny fish, Joe. Ehhh ... it was an inexpensive lesson. These two will probably fill out into sterling examples of tourist hell hole operators. I'll be first in line at their trial.

rob_x2004 Posted September 14, 2006 Author Share #5 Posted September 14, 2006 Yes Uwe, tongue in cheek. It was my lesson, not theirs. We were gaffing for ages even without common language. And I gave them stuff. They gave me images. But regardless of all that, and we did all go happily trudging through the mud together, when I later returned all of my stuff had been nicked. That was the lesson. You cant stay pissed off at people. Great kids, we got on like a storm. And lets face it, I didnt leave what I couldn't afford to lose. uulrich Posted September 14, 2006 Share #6 Posted September 14, 2006 Hi Rob; Thanks for clarification - sometimes I find my struggle. ;-) I enjoy your series here and the other series you posted. I prefer your monochrome series but this one does it nicely too. It's really good throughout and most important, your pictures tell me that you can approach people even if you don't speak their language. I admire you and your photographs. Thanks. :-)
stuny Posted September 14, 2006 Share #7 Posted September 14, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Rob - Terrific captures, great color (a nice change for you), excellent composition, and really fun "narative". I knew you had stacks more of these wonderful shots to fill out the coffee table book.
