albertwang Posted September 13, 2006 Share #1 Posted September 13, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) E-3 - olypedia.de is the sign of the scoop. 8 or 13 MP (E3/E5) makes this a rather interesting choice considering that Olympus will try to win on the image quality on the supposed Cannon MP myth that those bastards pullin the wool over our heads. Go Oly, go Oly! More to come...

stunsworth Posted September 13, 2006 Share #3 Posted September 13, 2006 13mp on a small sensor, might well be pretty noisy.
J Mitchum Posted September 13, 2006 Share #4 Posted September 13, 2006 Enough already. We get it. You don't like Canon.
rfleica Posted September 13, 2006 Share #5 Posted September 13, 2006 there have been many apparently fake pictures of e-3 and e-5s some time ago. do we have any info which might lead us to believe these detail in wik are not also fake?
albertwang Posted September 13, 2006 Author Share #6 Posted September 13, 2006 Doesn't matter! It should be interesting regardless... plus if we are bandying around M8 rumors, why not the E-3/E-5 stuff too eh? Or you not democratic or sniffing elitist in yer blood, eh, mates? J Mitchum Posted September 13, 2006 Share #7 Posted September 13, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) 13mp on a small sensor, might well be pretty noisy. Apparently Fuji is making the sensor but still, stuffing more pixels into a small sensor is a bad idea. There is only so much that can be done to overcome noise. Should be interesting cameras though. I hope they are as well made as the E-1.
J Mitchum Posted September 13, 2006 Share #8 Posted September 13, 2006 Doesn't matter! It should be interesting regardless... plus if we are bandying around M8 rumors, why not the E-3/E-5 stuff too eh? Well, we have dozens of legitimate pictures of the M8 now. Interesting that Fuji is making the sensor for the E-5 assuming this info is correct.
albertwang Posted September 13, 2006 Author Share #9 Posted September 13, 2006 Let's put it this way... pictures aren't legit until the day arrives. Friday! For right now we have the M8 in puzzle pieces form... I mightaswell play my sudoku chances eh, folks?
Bob Ross Posted September 13, 2006 Share #10 Posted September 13, 2006 E-3 - olypedia.de is the sign of the scoop. 8 or 13 MP (E3/E5) makes this a rather interesting choice considering that Olympus will try to win on the image quality on the supposed Cannon MP myth that those bastards pullin the wool over our heads. Go Oly, go Oly! More to come... Oly's embargo on DSLR stuff is supposed to end 7AM Thursday (9-14) and at least they will announce the E-400, a bitsy ten megger. Everyone is hoping for some info on what is going on with the top end and I'm not sure Oly can say for sure themselves. 10MP (on a 4/3rds sensor) gets the pixels down to the 4.8µm size, into the noise problem zone, but with 104 lpm theoretical max rez. Does this mean that we will be able to see all the fine detail that was destroyed by noise? :D Bob
albertwang Posted September 13, 2006 Author Share #11 Posted September 13, 2006 Or perhaps there is a secret sensor that we don't know about that defies physics.

albertwang Posted September 13, 2006 Author Share #14 Posted September 13, 2006 If it really does have the Fuji sensor (rather than the Kodak... yoowzers) then the noise levels will be substantially reduced. The F10/F11 digicam is proof that high ISO minicams can be well worth the investment!

Because this site is funded by Leica. The only connection to Olympus is through the 4/3 system, and Panasonic already has its own body and Leica may have their own at a later date. J Mitchum Posted September 14, 2006 Share #20 Posted September 14, 2006 Well that was a big disappointment. They announced an E-400 that isn't going to be available in the US and... well, that's it. I see the E-400 gives a warning when using an ISO higher than 640. Doesn't bode well for noise levels. No E-3 though they may have a "mockup" of one on display at Photokina. Too little too late. Pentax just announced a model with a 10mp APS-C sensor for $899 that looks to be very, very nice.
