Kasimir Posted April 18, 2008 Share #21  Posted April 18, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Scam, scam, scam. They know that a European is unlikely to collect in person - would make it almost as expensive as buying in Europe - and are relying on idiots to send them the money instead and wait for delivery. Which of course coud be a long wait.  If you do say you'll collect in person I'm guessing that they'll mysteriously have no stock and advise you not to travel.  Google checkout protection? Do Google get involved in insuring purchases? I've never heard of it if they do.  Send me 1000 Euros instead. You're just as likely to get a D3, and it'll cost you less.  I'm actually interested in an M8 - with warranty. Do You have one in stock for 1000 $? Rolo Posted April 18, 2008 Share #22 Â Posted April 18, 2008 At the very least, when you guys are posting about the Nikon D3, please indicate "Nikon" in the subject line. As a Leica "D3" owner, I would rather not spend time reading postings only to find out it is the Nikon you all are talking about and not the Leica. Thanks for your consideration. Â Good idea ! Â I'll do the same with my Hasselblad, Canon, Rollei and Olympus threads. Â Stunsworth - you are not on your own, son. Â Rolo :D

JHAG Posted April 18, 2008 Share #24  Posted April 18, 2008 I know many of you have Nikon D3 have any of you purchased throught the websites below or heard of any reasons not to. The prices are incredible. Would you buy from them Natsumi Sakura Store  Sengkring Company  Even with the protected japanese market, probably a scam. Besides, if you buy a Nikon camera in the US and import it in Europe, warranty is void. Just as with the Apple iPhone. The most reliable BH don't ship Nikon cameras to european customers. Instead, you may feel free to buy an M8 in the US, with the weak dollar, it's a bargain. And Leica warranty is a worldwide warranty — despite of what local distributors say : I asked Solms for that. chris_livsey Posted April 19, 2008 Share #25 Â Posted April 19, 2008 Well, I suppose we like to talk about what's new and works; that said there's a glitch with the new D3 firmware, but browse it with a hex editor and you see a reference to a D3x, 24.4MP, 6048*4032 pixels.. Â I hate to continue this Nikon thread in the Leica forum BUT the above info is confirmed here and details of new sensors are surely of interest to all as to what may become possible for the M series. The use of cropping in particular may allow for two lens series to be used on the same body as Nilkon are doing which could be relevant for both the Mx and Rx series. As a Leica "D3" owner, I would rather not spend time reading postings only to find out it is the Nikon you all are talking about and not the Leica. Thanks for your consideration. Â I also would like to endorse this comment - always consider it from the other person's point of view - imagine logging into a Nikon forum and asking 4/3rds specific questions or inquire about Leica prices - would they welcome these inquiries - probably not. Â As this Leica user forum is considerate but specialised I recommend that contributors keep their comments to Leica, 4/3rds technology or relative technology comparisons or sharing brief experiences with other equipment but not to focus entire discussions on topics that in mind are outside the scope of this forum. Â I often search for D3 and do not want to waste my time reading something I was not looking for - thanks for considering others. marknorton Posted May 1, 2008 Share #34 Â Posted May 1, 2008 I think you'll find that Mark was referring to a deposit on a 'D3X'. Â Yes I was; I think the (Nikon) D3 and D3x will complement each other well, different cameras for different applications but with a common function base. Â However, in case you all think everything is fine and dandy in Nikon D3 land, there are mixed reports of one of their top lenses (70-200 f2.8 VR) not performing well into the corners when focussed at infinity at 200; we've all waxed lyrical about it on DX camera but it appears to be a bit of a dog on FF. I didn't like what I saw, so am using the lens in DX crop mode or reverting to my D2X.

Guest darkstar2004 Posted May 1, 2008 Share #38 Â Posted May 1, 2008 Canfred, it's a reasonable question since the prices seem too good to be true. I am concerned also by the fact that it is a .org webpage, not .com, plus the webpage seems like something I could set-up in less than an hour of copy/paste from other sources. If you try to get some information in "About us" it's just some crap about their concept of shop, but no address, no phone number... "Contact Us" is just a web-form?? again, where's the REAL contact info? can you fid where this is even located?I wouldn't buy from them, but if you do and things don't go south, just let us know! Â What's that old saying about "If a deal seems too good to be true..." Â Methinks some naive, greedy and just plain dumb folk are going to get a $3000 screwing (word is this is where Eliot Spitzer shops; $3000 screwing, get it??). Â B&H sells the D3 for $4999.95 US and is making probably around 10% profit per camera (the profit margins on cameras & lenses is microscopic to nonexsistant - I know this to be true, as I used to work for a fairly large Nikon dealer). Â What does that tell you about a deal where you can buy a $5000 camera for $3000?? Â Is it just me or does anyone else hear the "Deliverance Banjo Music" playing??
