JHAG Posted April 16, 2008 Share #1 Posted April 16, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) I give it a try with M7 and M8. VF lignes display correctly, but I can't get in focus. Turning the focus ring, nothing happens in the VF. Why ?
Advertisement Posted April 16, 2008 Posted April 16, 2008 Hi JHAG, Take a look here Heliar 12mm. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
eyedeebee Posted April 16, 2008 Share #2 Posted April 16, 2008 I'd assume that it is not rangefinder coupled - you'll need to estimate focus based on the distance markings on the lens. The depth of field should be pretty extensive on a 12mm lens, so focus shouldn't be too difficult to pin down.
Philippe D. Posted April 16, 2008 Share #3 Posted April 16, 2008 I can't get in focus. Turning the focus ring, nothing happens in the VF. Why ? Because this lens doesn't have any link to it. Only hyperfocal works fine.
stunsworth Posted April 16, 2008 Share #4 Posted April 16, 2008 The lens isn't coupled to the camera rangefinder
JHAG Posted April 16, 2008 Author Share #5 Posted April 16, 2008 I suspected this, now I'm sure thanks to you. Hyperfocal it will be, then.

lmr Posted April 17, 2008 Share #8 Posted April 17, 2008 The DOF is so deep, you should not have any issues getting things in focus. On an M7, you have problem finding things to put in the frame, making sure that your body parts like feet and fingers are not in the frame, keeping it level, and stop having fun. On an M8... you will have the same problems, but to a lesser degree, but the fun is still there My 15mm... @ 5.6 my DOF is from 3ft to infinity or 1 meter to infinity. Both the 12 & 15 are not RF focus coupled. Start having fun!! Robert.
