Very pleased with 105-280 on DMR

A few test shots here.

I'm VERY pleased with this lens.

It has all the sharpness, bokeh, detail rendering and plasticity (read microcontrast) one could wish for. The only thing I miss from the 4.0/280 apo is that internal focussing! I think I missed focus slightly on the swan.:( I NEED that full matte screen.

All three are with the 1.4x converter.

Here is a shot of a bannana spider I shot a while ago with the 105-280 on the DMR. ISO 200, minimum focus distance (~5.5 ft), wide open f/4.2, on a monopod.

 

This is a great lens. I find it to be more usable than the 70-180 f/2.8 APO. Longer focal range with slightly better ergonomics. In bright daylight the 1 1/3 stop isn't that big of a sacrifice to get an extra 100mm in distance. Optically very, very good.
