Because it will be a damn great camera to take photos with and it would suit my style About cameras and work, I had to shoot film (rare) had no film camera bought a $30 Oly XA, some film, petrol, a bit of wear and tear on my body and kaboooshkaaar a couple of grand in the pocket ( sorry Leica it went straight into the Kitchen fund). mwilliamsphotography Posted September 14, 2006 Share #42 Posted September 14, 2006 I cannot over emphasize what this camera means to me. Anyone who has carried around a DSLR and it's huge prime/zoom lenses for 6 to 8 hours photographing a wedding knows exactly what it means. Price be damned, gimme this camera. I will off-load a lot of very capable gear to get it if I have to. My M7 B&W camera needs company and it's finally on it's way. I love this, I started photographing weddings with a M camera, and wandered away as digital made it's way into the wedding business. Ha! It's back to the future. earleygallery Posted September 14, 2006 Share #43 Posted September 14, 2006 Try Ferraris, they work well with blondes when indeed, a Leica camera is useless. Of course, this is much more expensive but hey, girls were never supposed to be cheap I think you'll find carrying a Leica is much more likely to attract attention from - generally - middle aged men! If you want to attract girls get a puppy.

If you want to attract girls get a puppy. You are right. I tried both: Leica M and Ferrari and yes, the M attracts middle aged men. Really not my type. Another solution I tried is the 280mm/2.8 on a monopod in a big city: attracts everyone but no attractive female asked me for a ride with it :-)

grober Posted September 14, 2006 Share #47 Posted September 14, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) 4200 Euro translates to well over US$5000. NOT what we had hoped! Someone please tell me that the 4200 Euro is an already VAT-burdened price, yes? If so, subtract approximately 17% and then convert to Greenbacks, yes? -g
marknorton Posted September 14, 2006 Share #48 Posted September 14, 2006 Yes, the 4200 includes VAT, divide by 1.16 to get the ex-VAT price. It's about $4600 - $4800 + tax, depending on what exchange rate you use. VAT is 16% (for now) in Germany, 17.5% in the UK, 19% in France, 20% in Italy and a boggling 25% in countries like Sweden and Denmark.
