bill Posted March 18, 2008 Share #2 Â Posted March 18, 2008 Has there been a faster LTM lens made than the Canon LTM 50/1.2? Â The Noctilux is only available in M mount, and the Canon .95 is a Canon bayonet mount (convertible, I understand) so I'd say no. The 1.2 is plenty fast enough, and pretty hard to focus critically on my IIIc, not to mention the extent to which it blocks the view. It's unusable on my IID. I use it on my M7 .85. I would have quoted it, or better, wouldn't post. (I made this just a pair of days ago, when, to answer a question from a member, I posted the pic of an unusual Summicron 50, scanned from a Jim Lager book)

luigi bertolotti Posted March 20, 2008 Share #13  Posted March 20, 2008 Hi Luigi, So you are posting photos from a copyrighted book and commercial online sales catalog?!!  Please take a closer look here: Leica User Forum - Regeln im Leica Forum  You wouldn't want someone using your photos without your permission, right?  Sorry to take this discussion off-topic, but as photographers we all should be more conscience and aware of these issues.  rt  NO ! As I said, my pic was NOT from a sales catalog item, and, btw, I saw here, anyway, many examples of pics of items for sale from various dealers, usually in posts like ".. there is an example of the item you speak of for sale at xxx.com...<pic>" ; and never saw observations about by moderators. The same applies to pics of equipment (typically, rare and unusual items) taken from various books from Leica historicians, old catalogs, old advertising etc... in this "collector & historical" area they are rather common, and the posters, correctly, always quote the source. Sorry, I insist on this as a sane approach, for the goal is NOT to make use of a photo in itself, whose author is almost always unknown (who took the pic of a certain lens in Laney's book ? of a Leica 72 in an advertising of the '50s ?) but to share knowledge on arguments we members are interested into; the legitimate property of an image is a serious issue, and I think that most of us, even if not pro photog, have the right respect of this principle, but this forum is dedicated also to share knowledge and infos, and the attaching of images is a support to this.  Of course, this is my opinion and I don't want to go against the rules of the Forum... if moderators have something to tell me about, I can change my attitude (not my mind) and won't post anymore such images, quite simple... lars_bergquist Posted March 21, 2008 Share #15 Â Posted March 21, 2008 Back to the subject. I am not 100 percent certain about the mounting, but in 1935 Leitz produced a 75mm Summar 1:0,85. During the 1936 Berlin Olympics it was used for purposes of TV projection. It has also been stated that it was later used for mass X-ray screening (the faster the lens you used for photographing the fluorescent screen, the lower the X-ray dosages, and the 5cm Xenon 1.5 was used too in an X-ray version) and there are rumours that the lens was used for night photo reconnaissance during the war. There is even a photo of it in Theo M. Scheerer, Leica und Leica-System, 2. Auflage, 1960, p. 57. Â The old man from the Age of 1:6.
