ehecatl Posted March 18, 2008 Share #1 Posted March 18, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) On the train to Machu Picchu, as we start to head out of Cusco. Due to the mountains, it takes up to an hour for the train to pull out of the city as it zigzags its way up out of the valley. Leica D-Lux 3, a shot through the window. The ambience was heightened by the foggy morning. -s

ehecatl Posted March 18, 2008 Author Share #3 Posted March 18, 2008 I saw the H. Bingham train in Aguas Calientes. Didn't realize it was so plush inside. I was on the "Backpacker" train. Wasn't so bad. And it was an incredible journey. s

stuny Posted March 18, 2008 Share #6 Posted March 18, 2008 Santiago - We were fortunate enough to only take the train from The Sacred Valley to Machu Pichu. But the trip back to Cuzco on that train was terribly long, and we wished they still had helicopter service.
nealf Posted March 18, 2008 Share #7 Posted March 18, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Santiago, Unfortunately with my arthritic knees and feet, my days backpacking up the 2000' to Machu Picchu or along the Inca trail are behind me. The "Hiram Bingham" and Machu Picchu were the highlights of our trip to Peru.

Stuart : As far as I am concerned I was more or less fortunate when taking the train from Cuzco to Puno. Very long journey, problem with the seats reservation and spent 12 hours at the bar and no regrets... Santiago : your shot has a lot of "character" and I like it. ehecatl Posted March 19, 2008 Author Share #10 Posted March 19, 2008 Thanks for the comments! I mentioned that I do tweaks for some of my photos in Lightroom, and so here is the version of the above with saturation levels turned down (and playing around with the "aged photo" preset). Thanks for looking, Santiago
