earleygallery Posted March 14, 2008 Share #1 Posted March 14, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, I bought an FX01 recently, was using it last night and it's jammed up. It switches on, the LCD comes on, but nothing else works. I know with some other digitals you can leave them for a few days without the battery in and an internal battery will run down which can 'reset' the camera. Any idea if this would work with the FX01? I bought the camera off an e bay seller. It was meant to be 'refurbished/serviced' so I've e mailed them as well to see if they will assist but I don't hold out too much hope! elansprint72 Posted March 14, 2008 Share #2 Posted March 14, 2008 Bugger! Being a Mech Eng I do not trust anything electrical, this is why I bought my C-Lux2 via a (former?) Leica dealer. Hope that it re-sets itself, It's a great camera when it works.
earleygallery Posted March 14, 2008 Author Share #3 Posted March 14, 2008 Pete, I got some great shots with it last night, just before it packed up! I was at a gig down near the stage and a few drinks were thrown about, so I'm wondering if some of the splashes worked there way into the camera? It's not the end of the world though. I was doing my shopping in Sainsburys the other night and what did I find on sale? A Panasonic FX30 (C Lux 2) reduced to £100. It was too good an offer to pass up. earleygallery Posted March 20, 2008 Author Share #4 Posted March 20, 2008 Update - the e bay seller took the camera back and refunded me in full (feedback had already been left). Even refunded the postage, there are some genuine people out there! I think whatever fault the camera had in the first place (it was a 'refurb') had returned. I examined the camera carefully for any signs of splashes etc., and tried leaving the battery out for a number of days before returning it, but that didn't work either, all the functions had simply locked up. Anyway, now onto the FX30 or C Lux 2. Initial impressions are that it has much lower noise and CA, but the fine details don't appear quite as sharp out of the camera (need to apply sharpening). I guess that is the pay off for the lower noise/CA ? Its even smaller (slimmer) than the previous model and has a nice function button to get to the main menu items more quickly. Anyway, must forget about it for a while and get back to some 'real' photography at the weekend with the M2 but these little digi's are really quite enjoyable things to use! earleygallery Posted March 21, 2008 Author Share #7 Posted March 21, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) just cuirous ...why do you ant a c-lux vs the d-lux.. im looking for a small camera and im not sur ewhich way to go I chose the c lux because I wanted about the smallest camera I could find. I also looked at the 'flat' Fuji FZ's. It's a digital replacement for my little Minox, a carry everywhere at all times camera, for those shots that I would otherwise miss (although I'm enjoying using it at the moment to familiarise myself with it). Yes Louis! Sainsbury's in Croydon is where I found mine. It's tempting to buy another and keep it until this one breaks/wears out! The local Leica dealer is selling the C Lux 2 at the reduced price of £350 !
