bill Posted March 7, 2008 Share #1 Â Posted March 7, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Pete, I'm blaming you for this... Ever since I handled your mint example of this lens at the Chinese New Year get together I've been hankerin' for a Canon 50mm f1.2 of my own... Â This spotless example arrived during the week, and fits SO nicely on my M7 I shall try it out this weekend, and most likely take it to Seville next weekend. Advertisement Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 Hi bill, Take a look here J'accuse Pete Farnsworth. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
farnz Posted March 7, 2008 Share #2 Â Posted March 7, 2008 Heh, heh, great news, Bill, and congratulations on your 'CaNoctilux'! (I notice that you haven't succumbed to an M8. Yet. ) Â It looks like you found a very nice copy and it looks much happier on your M7 than it did on your IID. I have to admit that the infinity lock drives me even barmier than I already am and if I could disengage it without damaging the lens I would. (Thinks to self: a gentle sledgehammer blow perhaps ... ) Â Unfortunately the original vented hood is ridiculously expensive - if you can find one - but there are cheap workable hoods available here if yours came without one: Â New! Metal 55mm Standard Screw-in Lens Hood on eBay, also Lens Hood, Lens Accessories, Lenses Filters, Cameras Photo (end time 12-Mar-08 15:45:17 GMT) Â I found the vendor to be very quick and reliable and, if I recall, Guy said he has used him in the past too. Â Really keen to see some shots from Seville. (With your new M8 if you've succumbed by then. ) Â Pete.
bill Posted March 7, 2008 Author Share #3  Posted March 7, 2008 Funnily enough, that exact same hood, from that exact same supplier was ordered a couple of days ago  I'd like to get a sky filter to protect that dinnerplate-sized front element but I'm a tad concerned about it touching the element given the curvature. Any tips?  Oh, and I agree about the *&@~% infinity lock!  Regards,  Bill
