erl Posted March 7, 2008 Share #1 Â Posted March 7, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) My Epson 1290 is/has died. Forced to urgently buy an Epson R1800. Now, I need a RIP. Previously I was using ImagePrint which is great, but I don't think ImagePrint supports my new model! Does anyone have any advice, knowledge, or whatever on how to get top level performance out of the R1800? Don't tell me it's a bad choice, I have made it. Now I have to make it work. Out of the box is not good enough with any printer I have owned, so I do need to go higher. Â Thanks for any useful advice.
Advertisement Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 Hi erl, Take a look here RIP's for printing M8 files. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
cbretteville Posted March 7, 2008 Share #2  Posted March 7, 2008 Erl, Not much out there for the R1800.  Google gives: Powerrip 2000: Epson InkJet Printers - PowerRIP 2000 for Epson Stylus Color Pro and Photo Printers - iProof Systems Inc.  FastRip: FastRIP Inkjet Halftone Control Software  My only rip experience is with QuadtoneRip, it does BW only and is cheap ($50 shareware). I've used it with my r800 and now with my 2100 that is set up with all grey inks for bw printing.  - Carl
mhoersch Posted March 7, 2008 Share #3 Â Posted March 7, 2008 QuadtoneRip is the best buy for B&W, it gives really beautiful results.
erl Posted March 7, 2008 Author Share #4 Â Posted March 7, 2008 Thanks Carl & Manfred for your suggestions. I am still a film man when it comes to B/W. What I really need is a RIP for colour. Â Carl, I will look further into the PowerRIP 2000 you suggested, but the site seemed to have broken links. Will try again. Thanks.
