Hello,

I finally gave my "new" M7 and recenly purchased CV 35 f/2.5 PII a proper test drive last weekend in Paris. I promised in an earlier post to say what I thought once I'd had results from the CV.

Firstly, I have to say that I love my M7 more than ever. There, now that I've done that, on with the CV...

As I mentioned before, the build quality of the CV is superb. In that respect I think it's not far at all behind my 50 cron, at a fraction of the price. Both focus and aperture control are smooth and definite, with the lens being reassuringly weighty for its size. In fact, the only gripe I have (and it's a very minor one) is with the lens cap, and that's only when the hood is in place. The problem is that it's so small that the inner grips (which must be used when the hood is on) are too small and smooth - so much so that it can pop off and go flying if grip is lost. I ended up not bothering with the cap after a while, just using the hood and the camera pointing downwards.

Image-wise, I'm certainly not disappointed. Whereas I initially thought this would be a temporary stopgap until I could afford a 35 cron, what I can say now is that I'll be keeping it, whatever. I really wonder how much better the 35 Summarit is...

These are rough proof scans, resized for the web.
