So don't sleep in all day Friday, there'll be some interesting reading that isn't being covered by the paparazzi reviewers. One of my daughter's favorite little poems from a book of old chidren's sayings: The rain it falls It falls upon The just and unjust fella But mostly on the just because The unjust stole the just's umbrella Also, as a business owner, I really appreciate that these new products are the result of Leica's hard work and they deserve to be able to introduce the products in a way and at a time that suits them. As they say, "you only get one chance to make a first impression". Call me old fashioned and/or disingenuous - so be it. Ah well.... Reason I mentioned the good looking women was more of the point I would rather have leica tell me than some media dog hounds that really could care less. Exactly, respect for the company and enough respect to keep to an agreement. Leica has worked for a long time on its new products and, as I said, they get only one chance to make a first impression with them. The paparazzi will do their thing and then move on to the next "big thing". Does it tag the Raws or not and on 3rd party. Also we have software to look at and many other things . So reports from Sean and other professional reviewers will certainly give us a much broader picture of what is coming. let's not forget other products like the Tri-elmar and maybe the rumured 15mm and 17mm at one time . Be nice to see the facts than what we have been guessing. Honestly I am still undecided on what to do about getting one or not . humanized_form Posted September 13, 2006 Share #230 Posted September 13, 2006 hell... most of the M8 (p)reviews will be of little value beyond simply listing the specs and features, as most of the reviewers probably don't even use rangefinders. they don't know what really matters to those who do love using them. i mean, this isn't a dslr for someone like dpreview to overanalyze.. hahah. so no worries sean. your writing has value because you do love using rangefinders. so much more important than anything the leaks have offered. It is a French dialogue in the menu Guy--These were standard ASA (American Standards Association) numbers, while DIN (Deutsche Industrie Norm) numbers were logarithmic. The arithmetic and logarithmic were then combined into ISO, so we could all be happy. The camera will certainly allow choice of language, but ISO settings are the same everywhere. Remember Agfachrome 50 Ektachrome 64 Kodakolor 80 and then you can work up or down: 6 8 10 12 16 20 25 32 40 50 64 80 100 125 160 200 250 320 400 500 640 800 1000 1250 1600 2000 2500 3200 etc (Don't tell anyone, but I shot Kodachrome when it was ASA 10. ) --HC Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

It is a French dialogue in the menu I noticed the odd numbers although each number is 2/3 stop higher than a "standard" ISO value. Mayber there is a setting deeper in the menu. I hope for ease of use we still get 100, 200, 400, etc... Many of us are used to these ISO and instinctively know camera settings to use for a given film speed and environmental conditions. It's a dumb circular argument the guy uses-- "Well, gosh, since others broke the embargo, I guess I'm free to do the same." And he's doing a first look anyway. Had only 40 minutes to play with it. Your piece will be read and considered long after his complaints of non-compliance are forgotten. LOL Now in my entire photographic career, I have used that shutter speed exactly twice in the real world. Not sure it's entirely necessary on a rangefinder. (From what I've been able to figure out, on the D200, you use one button to enlarge the first time, then have to switch to combination of buttons to continue enlarging.) And take a look at the reflection in the eyepiece window--to my eye clearly a completely redesigned 'back end' to the VF. That will mean (I hope) that we eyeglass wearers will be able to see the full frame!!!
