bono0272 Posted September 5, 2006 Share #1 Posted September 5, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Can any DMR users advise how to retain the camera EXIF data after using Capture One Pro for converting DNG file to TIFF or JPG? My experience was after C1 processing and then posted the converted JPG file to the photo web site all EXIF information failed to display. Your advices are highly appreciated. Advertisement Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 Hi bono0272, Take a look here EXIF information after C1 conversion. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Jamie Roberts Posted September 5, 2006 Share #2 Posted September 5, 2006 This is strange. C1 retains a lot of EXIF information in all JPEG and TIFF conversions. I've never seen a problem with DMR DNG files or any other RAW files processed in C1. EXIF information is even included in C1 "Quick Proofs!" But if you're converting TIFFs from C1 to JPEGs using Photoshop's "Save for Web" then the EXIF information will be stripped out. That's a Photoshop thing, and it's done on purpose, as far as I can tell.
bono0272 Posted September 6, 2006 Author Share #3 Posted September 6, 2006 I see. Yes sometimes I retouch the pictures by Photoshop, this would be the reason of lossing the EXIF information. Thank you very much.
cbretteville Posted September 6, 2006 Share #4 Posted September 6, 2006 Just don't use the "save for web feature" if you wish to retain the exif info. Size the shots with "Image size" and save as JPG, this will ensure the exif info follows along all the way . - Carl
