Dan States Posted February 22, 2008 Share #1 Posted February 22, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) 1. His plan to introduce a line of clothes washers, microwave ovens and high quality pot-pies with the Leica brand name scared fuddy old Leica managers. 2. He eliminated the free beer and schnitzel lunches for the lens calibration guys. 3. Lee kept trying to sell Mr Kaufmann a Best Buy extended warranty and installation on his home stereo. 4. "Buy a Leica and get a free bicycle" promo costing a fortune! 5. What do you mean Lee is American? I thought he was Chinese! 6. That dust-up with Karl-Hans Welker in the parking lot got pretty ugly. 7. He was just so bitter that all the women in Germany don't look like a St Pauli Girl label. 8. Lee believed the LUG rumor that Canon had bought Leica. 9. Dressing up as a woman and running through town yelling "Look at me! I'm Oskar Barnack!" may have damaged the company reputation. 10. Sir, please take the Ur-Leica out of your trousers and leave the building.
Advertisement Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 Hi Dan States, Take a look here Top ten reasons Leica canned their CEO. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted February 23, 2008 Share #2 Posted February 23, 2008 :D Seriously: If a CEO gets fired like this there is another reason than a disagreement over the company policy. In that case there is a host of face-saving evasions, three months hand-over to the successor, etc. This is a summary dismissal, which means he has seriously p****d the owner. It means at least a shouting match getting out of hand, or even more sinister things on a personal level. We'll probably never know the real reason unless somebody decides to talk out of turn. Agreed. This definitely has the smell of a "F*** YOU!!!" firing. I hope the company will land on its feet.
