Mine went AWOL last weekend. Has anyone here approached Leica to find out if spares are available? I can beat you: my entire 1.25 magnifier dropped off and got lost! I wasn't using the little chain thingie because it annoys me. But you know what? I haven't missed it, nor have a I found my focus getting worse, even in dark rooms with a Nocti. And I can see all the frame lines again. I'm not replacing it! Tim

Leica UK sent me a replacement - it took a little time - and advised me to fix it on using three spots of "clear lacquer" type glue. I used general purpose clear Bostic and so far it has stayed on despite fairly intensive use.
Dantist Posted February 22, 2008 Share #24 Posted February 22, 2008 May I recommend to all of you the new born rubber, just discovered by french scientist Leibler, a student of de Gennes, former physics Nobel prized ? This gumi can be cut as much as you wish. Just put back the pieces together, it's like it had never been cut. Enjoy it ! Richard.no Posted February 23, 2008 Share #27 Posted February 23, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) It seems even the original Leica magnifier loses its rubber ring; I am glad I bought a third-party 1.25x without the O-ring. Today I solved the scratched-glasses syndrome by using "doctors tape", wrapping it carefully around the magnifier. I have yet to report on the successfulness of this stunt, but I can't imagine it coming off anytime soon. I'd say it adds to the ugliness of the camera, hopefully it will be a less interesting steal . Another good option (for cheap third party solutions) could be to glue rubber ala "bicycle tube" around. Good luck with the o-ring. erl Posted February 23, 2008 Share #29 Posted February 23, 2008 JUst tried the tap washer 'O-ring' thingy, recommended bya recent poster (thanks). It worked great with the Megaperls 1.35 and it's adjustable eyepiece. Set the eyepiece to your eye and apply the o-ring. Magic! My Leica 1.25 does not happily accept the same ring, but.... I have a Leica +.5 diopter lens which, when fitted to the 1.25 magnifier, works a treat with the O-ring. Normally the 0.5 fit 'loosely' on the 1.25, but the O-ring fits between both beautifully and solves the problem. Hope this is of use to some of you. Bonus: when/if lost, they are CHEAP and easy to replace immediately.
