Leica 16mm fisheye or Minolta 16mm fisheye?

The lenses are optically identical, only the lens barrel is different. The FE-Elmarit was designed and built for Leitz by Minolta in Japan. Some information is available on my website under "Leica highlights".

A quite good lens, but obviously not a resolution champ as the typical Leica lenses. The Fisheye is intended for different artistic purposes.

Sounds good. Which version should I get?

Since they're both identical optically, get the one that will fit your camera. The Minolta version will only fit the old Minolta SR / SRT / X body mount. The Fish-eye Elmarit will of course fit a Leica R body.

It might be cheaper to find an old Minolta body and the Fish-eye Rokkor to fit it, rather than the R-mount specific lens.
