albertwang Posted September 4, 2006 Share #1 Posted September 4, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) I presume that these versions are the same optical formulae? Of course, Erwin Puts doesn't seem to praise this fisheye lens much except to say that it is rather good for what it was designed for.
Advertisement Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 Hi albertwang, Take a look here Leica 16mm fisheye or Minolta 16mm fisheye?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
peter_n Posted September 4, 2006 Share #2 Posted September 4, 2006 Also don't forget the CV 15mm Heliar. That's a nifty little lens too...
albertwang Posted September 5, 2006 Author Share #3 Posted September 5, 2006 Heliar not a R mount, only screw/ M mount
bono0272 Posted September 5, 2006 Share #4 Posted September 5, 2006 I believe the Leica R-16mm Fisheye was made by Minolta in Japan. I got one, and the performance is not bad.
hgdddr Posted September 5, 2006 Share #5 Posted September 5, 2006 i got one too, and the center sharpness is ok for 11" x 14" max. Corner sharpness not ok.
itn Posted September 5, 2006 Share #6 Posted September 5, 2006 Leica's one has the almost identical construction to MC Fisheye Rokkor 16mm/f2.8. And it is made in Japan.
leicapages Posted September 5, 2006 Share #7 Posted September 5, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) The lenses are optically identical, only the lens barrel is different. The FE-Elmarit was designed and built for Leitz by Minolta in Japan. Some information is available on my website under "Leica highlights". A quite good lens, but obviously not a resolution champ as the typical Leica lenses. The Fisheye is intended for different artistic purposes. albertwang Posted September 5, 2006 Author Share #8 Posted September 5, 2006 Sounds good. Which version should I get?
doubice Posted September 5, 2006 Share #9 Posted September 5, 2006 Sounds good. Which version should I get? Since they're both identical optically, get the one that will fit your camera. The Minolta version will only fit the old Minolta SR / SRT / X body mount. The Fish-eye Elmarit will of course fit a Leica R body. It might be cheaper to find an old Minolta body and the Fish-eye Rokkor to fit it, rather than the R-mount specific lens. Jan
