Advertisement Posted February 13, 2008 Posted February 13, 2008 Hi vanhulsenbeek, Take a look here Leica Anglefinder M. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
ken_tanaka Posted February 13, 2008 Share #2 Â Posted February 13, 2008 I have one and occasionally use it with my 90 Cron and my 50. The optics are crystal clear, if that's what you're wondering. (They ought to be for that price, eh?)
cometsoft Posted February 13, 2008 Share #3 Â Posted February 13, 2008 I have it and have tried using it with the 90m. So far not much luck. I do better with the regular viewfinder. Â Haven't given up yet, and will try again in the spring when it's warm enough for the bugs to come out. If I didn't already own it, I wouldn't bother. Shootist Posted February 13, 2008 Share #4 Â Posted February 13, 2008 I bought one off eBay for much less then the suggested retail but have only had it attached to my M8's once or twice, just to check it out. The optics are clear but it does not allow you to see the whole viewfinder. That is because it is really meant to be used with the 90mm Marco Elmar. I thought I could use it for street shots where I don't bright the camer all the way up to my face, IE having the camera in front of my face. It is also for those time when you can NOT get behind the camera easily, like when the camera is low to the ground or just lower then normal standing/kneeling height. Â The whole package of the Marco Elmar isn't bad but to buy all the parts, or any of the parts individually, that come in the kit is cost prohibitive. YMMV
marknorton Posted February 13, 2008 Share #5 Â Posted February 13, 2008 I agree, I have the three part macro kit but it's ludicrously expensive compared to an SLR macro lens and right angle finder. More of a curiosity, I would say.
alex7075 Posted February 13, 2008 Share #6 Â Posted February 13, 2008 I would like to have this angle finder. Thinking back, it would have been useful in many situations. I can see on the Leica website that it works with a 50mm but without wearing glasses. There's only one on ebay at the moment, and too expensive. guy may Posted February 28, 2012 Share #7 Â Posted February 28, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Dont understand the device yet, not sure if it whether it can help me or not. I have 90cron and 40 cron with m9. Hoped it may be useable on those lenses not for macro obviously but rather for taking from alternate viewpoints and for taking shots inconspicuously for candid shots. I would love to have someone discuss this with me, Im in Melbourne on 0401804015. If anyone uses these in street photography please reply or text. Im dm like a dog after rabbit, I won't give up til someone can tell me iif I'm barking up the wrong tree. ;- ) Â Many thanks Guy
hoppyman Posted February 28, 2012 Share #8 Â Posted February 28, 2012 Hi Sander. I had one with the Macro Elmar set. I found focus with it to be extremely accurate in critical conditions and I liked the ability to use the different angles when the camera was in an awkward position down low within a garden bed. When attached to the eyepiece it can be rotated around. Whether it (or the macro Elmar set) is worth the price I'll leave up to you Hedge Grasshopper in my garden photo - Geoff Hopkinson photos at pbase.com For Guy above. I don't think it is a practical tool for street photography, You just get the centre of image for precise focusing, not discreet 'round the corner ' discreet for street. Guest #12 Posted March 8, 2012 Share #9 Â Posted March 8, 2012 ...anyone know what the magnification is for this (Leica anglefinder 12531)? I remember it as 2X, but can't find this anywhere...
Shootist Posted March 8, 2012 Share #10 Â Posted March 8, 2012 I don't think there is any magnification. It is just and angle viewfinder. It does crop your view slightly IIRC.

Correct, just a prism inside, no lens elements. Magnification 1x.
Guest #12 Posted March 17, 2012 Share #12 Â Posted March 17, 2012 I wonder what magnifier I am remembering...like a 2X right angle magnifier. Maybe it was on an R-D1. Â I need one...
