stuny Posted February 13, 2008 Share #1 Posted February 13, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) In the Skeleton Coast of Namibia, near a Himba village we encountered these three young male giraffes seemingly out for a stroll to enjoy the scenery. You can see more Skeleton Coast photos on the fourth and fifth Namibia photo gallery pages on our site.

psquared Posted February 14, 2008 Share #2 Posted February 14, 2008 Stuart, Nice composition and great environmental portrait. The background reminds me of smoggy Los Angeles. Was it a dust storm? Peter
stuny Posted February 16, 2008 Author Share #3 Posted February 16, 2008 Peter - Thank you. The only moisture they get is fog every morning from the sea.
rob_x2004 Posted February 16, 2008 Share #4 Posted February 16, 2008 Obviously you need a caddie to lug that house brick and spare lenses for you so you are always fresh and ready for that next classic wildlife shot. Soooooo.................................. Hey I love the background. You could almost sell it as a double exposure. Miles, miles, miles and miles away I'd guess. michali Posted February 16, 2008 Share #5 Posted February 16, 2008 Stuart- I really like the positionong and composition of the girafes against the endless mountain ranges that you see in Namibia, so well captured in this picture. I'm not sure if it's the screen settings on my laptop, but the pic does look a little washed out. I hope you don't mind, I've played with a little contrast and darkened it a tad. stuny Posted February 18, 2008 Author Share #6 Posted February 18, 2008 Peter - Thank you. It was a combination of dust particals and fog from the South Atlantic, the only source of moisture for much of Namibia. Rob - Thank you. You'd surprised how frequently we get offers like yours. Mike - Thank you. No problem. I think your adjustments improve it.
