zapp Posted February 11, 2008 Share #1 Posted February 11, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Owning a late Elmarit 2.8/180 (II), I have the chance of buying the Angenieux 2.3/180 in A condition for reasonable price. Who has experience with the Angenieux compared to the Elmarit (II) or the currnet Apo_Elmarit. The Angenieux is bigger and heavier (naturally) than the Leica and should be around 15 years old - in those days it was everybodys dream lens (almost everybodys). How much would you pay for it - sell the Elmarit for?
Advertisement Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 Hi zapp, Take a look here Angenieux 180. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Ivar B Posted February 12, 2008 Share #2 Posted February 12, 2008 This is a difficult lens to value as you do not see it for sale very often. I see that a US dealer has 3 for sale (Canon and Nikon mounts) with prices of $1200-1500. These prices are probably on the high side. As I recall, this is a very good lens but hardly a match for the 2.8/180 APO. I would think that in private trades the Angenieuw would be somewhat more expensive than the 180/2.8 (2nd version). If you want an absolute top performer which at the same time is greatly undervalued - try the 3.4/180. Stopped down a little bit it is as good as the new 180mm lenses. tobey bilek Posted February 24, 2008 Share #3 Posted February 24, 2008 Decent at best. My friends had lubracation problems that were never resolved. Mechanically no match for Leica.
Julius Posted March 1, 2008 Share #4 Posted March 1, 2008 Hello! I would strongely recommend You to get the Angenieux ! I have both, the 180 Elmarit and the Angenieux, but the A. unfortunately for Canon FD Mount. Uncomparable Lens. I used it once with F1N parallel together with Canon 300 1:2,8 flourite in a classic Concert, artificial Light, but the Negatives from the Canon Lens where 1-2 t less exposed, at same time and shutterspeed! my 180 Elmarit is very heavy, great colours, high contrast, but in digital use has magenta shades at lightedges. I have no way to test the A. digital. search it with Leica Mount desperately... julius
czfrosch Posted March 1, 2008 Share #5 Posted March 1, 2008 I`ve it - wonderfull lens - and totaly other than the also super APO Telyt 180, wich I also have. The Elmarit 180 I do not know. Price: difficult - those who know about the quality - high. Those, who don´t know Ang - cheap. I got mine 2 years ago for 150 british pounds as nearly new from England - my luck. Last week on ebay one was sold for nearly 1000 Euros. Regards czfrosch
