schmittm Posted January 17, 2007 Share #21 Posted January 17, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I definitely agree...its too expensive to repair the Minilux. Let me know if you are interested in the Leica CM camera. I work for a university and we have two that we are selling--the fixed 40mm camera. One is new and the other has had less than 20 rolls shot through it. I provide a money back offer if the camera is not to your liking. Thanks, Mike University of Wisconsin-Green Bay

Half-Handed Posted January 18, 2007 Share #22 Posted January 18, 2007 How much for the new CM?
Simplicissimus Posted June 19, 2007 Share #23 Posted June 19, 2007 I was just told that this repair is no longer done by Leica USA in New Jersey, and that the cameras given to them can still be repaired in Germany through them for around $275. I have a mint black Minilux Summarit and I am still trying to decide what to do. Does anyone know of anyone else on this side of the Atlantic that can take care of this fairly common problem? masjah Posted June 19, 2007 Share #24 Posted June 19, 2007 William If I had a black one, I'd cough up for the repair. I think they command a premium, as they are a limited edition and considered much more desirable than the titanium coloured standard version.
peterkin101 Posted March 23, 2009 Share #25 Posted March 23, 2009 I'm a proud owner of a (sadly) not mint Minilux in Black. Personally speaking, if the E-02 Showed on mine I would have it repaired. At least that way I can retain a camera which has given me the sharpest and most contrasty pictures this side of a Contax RTSII + 85mm F1.4 Planar I owned many years ago. NZDavid Posted March 24, 2009 Share #26 Posted March 24, 2009 Rather than getting a Minilux or CM, why not consider a Leica M? (used M6 perhaps?) You won't get computer chip errors because there are no computer chips. It may seem pricier in the short term, but in the long term it will last and last -- much like a good quality hi-fi system. All the best.

I love the Minilux and have 4 of them and one zoom. I even bought lens hood for them from SK Grimes. Three of the Lux's had E02 fixed, the last one done 6 months ago for $90. No way would I pay $275 because the fix is only good for maybe two or three years. I am interested in the CM but Leica no longer supports it.

razerx Posted March 27, 2009 Share #30 Posted March 27, 2009 John, I had it done by Schmidt, the Leica authorized distributor in Hong Kong. I am going to call them today to see if prices have shot up.
Rafe Arnott Posted March 5, 2012 Share #31 Posted March 5, 2012 Hi all, Looking at buying a Minilux, but concerned about the E02. I imagine not every one gets the problem, but I have a chance to get one at a reasonable price and I am wondering about being able to repair the shutter if it does go. Has anyone had any recent repairs done in North America? All the threads I come across about places to repair the Minilux are a few years old. Please advise. I'd love to grab a CM too, but used one for sale online seem non-existent. Many thanks in advance for any help and advice. Cheers, –Rafe
