StS Posted February 7, 2008 Share #1 Posted February 7, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Last October I ordered the first of the two complimentary UV/IR filters which arrived in December. Two weeks ago I ordered the second one, which arrived just yesterday. It seems production is up to speed now....
Advertisement Posted February 7, 2008 Posted February 7, 2008 Hi StS, Take a look here Leica speeding up in shipping UV/IR filters. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
adan Posted February 7, 2008 Share #2 Posted February 7, 2008 ...or demand has dropped to a level that matches production, after the first rush. Good news for me - I bought my 2nd M8 11 months ago, and it never even occured to me that that meant I got another 2 filters (d'oh!) until about 2 weeks ago! Guess they'll show up any day. tollie Posted February 8, 2008 Share #3 Posted February 8, 2008 Did Leica notify you when they were shipped... or did they just show up? My two weeks are about up.
StS Posted February 8, 2008 Author Share #4 Posted February 8, 2008 The filters simply appeared being shipped from a nondescript address. Money laundering?
adan Posted February 9, 2008 Share #5 Posted February 9, 2008 Yeah, I keep having this vision of some guy (I think Matthias was the name on the Fedex slip) in some suburb of Wetzlar or Frankfurt who lives in an apartment filled floor to ceiling with little silver Leica boxes - grabbing boxes, stuffing them 2 at a time into envelopes, and printing out the Fedex labels. A cottage industry.
giordano Posted February 9, 2008 Share #6 Posted February 9, 2008 Yeah, I keep having this vision of some guy (I think Matthias was the name on the Fedex slip) in some suburb of Wetzlar or Frankfurt who lives in an apartment filled floor to ceiling with little silver Leica boxes - grabbing boxes, stuffing them 2 at a time into envelopes, and printing out the Fedex labels. A cottage industry. But the really time-consuming part of the process is when Matthias has to painstakingly hand-paint the rim of each label to reduce flare. I like to think Matthias is an old guy in a beer garden-waiter getup who lives in a real cottage in the forrest, and he makes the filters into the wee hours of the night by candle light, then they are delivered by a little boy who used to be a wooden puppett and his friend a singing crickett. Makes the wait more acceptable
