The red disc has gone missing from the release catch of my M6 Titanium model. I realise that this has no effect on the function of the camera and yes, I will get out and take more pictures with it. However, assuming it is not going to turn into a major quest, does anyone know how easy it would be to replace the missing dot? Should I just try Hammerite paint of the nearest shade or does Leica supply self-adhesive spares, or whatever.

A missing "Red dot " is a cause to Celebrate - the red dot is like a Zit - you wished it would go away - it's almost as bad and tasteless as "M8" in big white letters on the front of the M8 - it positively yells " I cost five times as much as a Canon G9 and I am vastly inferior in many respects - according to the latest review on "Luminous Landscape". Trust me, there are acres of electrical tape out there covering Leica "Red Dots" - now you can relax, cause yours is lost!!!

Peter--

Dealers often carry some red dots, though I don't think that'll be the case for the one on the release catch.

Is that a screw-in (or screw-on) plate over the button itself? Or is it just painted on?

Best bet is probably to contact your national distributor. If it's a part to screw in, getting the replacement part will return the camera to original appearance.

Thanks, Peter: Yes, actually, it does look better without it. Thanks Howard: I'll also pursue that line; I may want to sell the camera and I might as well get it back to its original appearance. (Sell an M6 Titanium? I must be mad!)

Thanks Earleygalllery. Humbrol enamel is a more cost-effective option. I could paint it green and describe it a the Moonwrack Special (Green Cheese) Edition. (Yours for £5,000 plus post and insurance).

Thanks Rob_X2004 but I get my stuff serviced by GR Enterprise Services in Surrey. First-class and a little quicker than you. I recommend them.
