fernando_b Posted January 21, 2008 Share #1 Posted January 21, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) The hour hand seems more blurred, despite focus was on it. Minute hans seems sharper, but its part are either closer or more distant to the lens. Thanks for any guesses to explain. R135 Elmarit wide open, K64, tripood. Artificial light. Fernando. Canfred Posted January 21, 2008 Share #2 Posted January 21, 2008 Hi Fernando , in my opinion the hand moved at the time of exposure. Clock hands can do this depending on the mechanism used. Minute hands once per minute or twice like my Atmos, hour hands can also vibrate. Cheers Manfred
rob_x2004 Posted January 21, 2008 Share #3 Posted January 21, 2008 Hands are raised from the dial. Hour hand shadow runs along its length so it is less delineated than the other. The metalwork isnt flat, and might even be fluted so there is a second shadow effect to consider. If you are worried about in out of focus assess the numerals which are flat on the dial face not lifted away from it. Whats the un cropped image look like? How big is this crop? fernando_b Posted January 22, 2008 Author Share #4 Posted January 22, 2008 Manfred, it is indeed a possible explanation, despite the probability works against it. Rob, it is a 100% unsharped crop at 900 dpi optical. The surprising fact is that the numerals closer and more distant too are sharper. Fernando.
