DonQuijote Posted January 20, 2008 Share #1 Posted January 20, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) I wanted to see how my LEICA D SUMMILUX 25mm/F1.4 ASPH would perform in not quite low light but poorer light and involving some reflective surfaces (metal, water, glass). Of course no OIS with this lens and no use of tripod. All shots were hand-held and only on some occasions the built-in flash of my Leica Digilux-3 was used. I tried to avoid the use of flash and used the lens as wide open as possible. The photos were taken at Monterey Model World & Vintage Car Museum in Auckland, NZ. 1. sailing boat & water f/1.4 1/200 no flash 2.sailing boat close-up f/2.0 1/50 3.Victorian steam ship & 4.german torpedo boat f/1.4 1/30 flash 5.wharf close-up f/1.4 1/100 no flash 6.1923 Douglas bike f/1.4 1/50 7.unknown bike Harley Davidson beat this:f/1.4 1/80 8. 1953 BSA Bantam f/1.4 1/160 9.1959 174cc Bantam Super f/1.4 1/250 10.black & red oldtimer f/1.4 1/125 11.I think this was a Packard f/1.6 1/250. ptomsu Posted January 21, 2008 Share #3 Posted January 21, 2008 Nice shots! Although I found that my 1,4/25 very soft at 1,4-2,8 and then getting slowly the contrast and sharpness you are expecting. It also did not focus correctly on my E-3, aperture wide open and low light. This was finally one of the reasons I sold my whole 4/3 equipment. Take a simple 1,4/50 Nikkor on a D3 and you are getting far superior results
