wlaidlaw Posted January 23, 2008 Share #21 Posted January 23, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thanks Wilson for the thought. I'm not too sure if there is anything else I need to know about the flash if I just go with TTL. Hey how did lightning fry your iBook? Best Rob Rob, Due to laziness on my part I am afraid. I drafted a fax on my iBook, while at my Provence house. Then instead of sending it via the network to the fully lightning protected iMac and going and plugging in its external Apple fax modem, I just plugged a flying phone lead into the iBook's internal 56K modem. While it was sending a 10 page fax, a storm started right overhead. All my house power is fully surge protected with a bank of surge absorbing, oil filled capacitors for each of the three phases and fast switches on the phone line but the surge came down the phone line, which I had stupidly plugged in on the outside side of the surge switch. The iBook will still start up and then runs for about 15 seconds and then shuts down. I have been told it is the logic unit, for which Apple charge £450, not a lot less than I paid for the iBook 3 years ago. I had recently had the iBook upgraded with a 100GB hard drive and a 1.4Ghz G4 processor - typical! Wilson
