barnack Posted January 17, 2008 Share #1 Posted January 17, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) I just acquired a pre-war Hektor 28mm f/6.3 lens. I would enjoy hearing anyones experience using this lens especially on a Leica M8 or a Epson R-D1. Thanks in advance for any response.

luigi bertolotti Posted January 17, 2008 Share #2 Posted January 17, 2008 I have one of the same age, but never used (nor tested) it on M8: I used it many times with a Leica IIIc years ago and have a number of good 20x30 enlargments taken with it: a very pleasant lens, with an even degree of softness at all apertures so that one can forget the RF focusing... closed to 11 is typical that everything you frame result evenly focused; vignetting is less than one would expect for such an aged lens (for instance, the younger Super Angulon 21 f4 has a much more evident vignetting), but it MUST not be used with sunlight in front : any problem than can occur in such position, it will, and btw I also have no hood for it (and neither you have one, I think... it's a very very rare item to find). I have also its younger brother Summaron 5,6... with a permanently fitted BM adapter for I use it on M8... better than Hektor, with the same fantastic compactness, and it's coated too.
