Is it possible to activate eye detection while holding a button on the SL3-(S) and when releasing the button eye sf is disabled again? I am used to this workflow from my Sony A7 III. My new A7V doesn’t have this feature anymore. AI told me the Leica SL3 models do. True with the new firmware?

No.

You can activate AF with back button or half shutter press but not detecting separately.

The tracking behavior with subject detection enabled is the same as on the Panasonic system (S1R II). It's not ideal, but it seems intentional.

Should everyone write complaints and suggestions to Panasonic, and not to Leica?😃
