Derbyshire Man Posted December 7 Author Share #21 Posted December 7 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) The only way to turn it off is to put touch in EVF to off. Which is a shame as moving the focus point with one's finger is much better than using the arrows (as no joystick). Few more replies now; 35 replies 71% lost images due to swipe putting camera in video mode 91% would like to be able to disable this function in the menu 88% would like the function removing entirely if a disable menu function cannot be provided to disable it Edited December 7 by Derbyshire Man

jaapv Posted December 7 Share #22 Posted December 7 Statistical remark: It may be indicative, who knows, but it is bound to attract users with complaints, so probably heavily biased. 35 owners out of thousands?
chris_tribble Posted December 7 Share #23 Posted December 7 (edited) I’d strongly recommend following @LocalHero1953 / Paul’s advice. I’ve used EVF extended from day one and never had this swipe > video problem. I’ve also NEVER used the Leica default profile! LocalHero1953 Posted December 7 Share #24 Posted December 7 (edited) Touch AF in EVF is a step beyond my prestidigitation. With eye to the EVF, I can only touch AF on the RHS of the screen. The arrow keys are my only practical option. Full respect to those who can. Am I misunderstanding how Touch AF in EVF works? jaapv Posted December 8 Share #25 Posted December 8 I think that it is meant for tripod use.
Tarekith Posted December 8 Share #26 Posted December 8 I used to use it for photo stuff a lot when I first got my Q3, worked fine enough for me most of the time compared to similar functionality on my A7CR. But the I realized it was easy to just leave on spot in the center, focus, then recompose. Not for everyone or every situation though I know.
Aram Langhans Posted December 8 Share #27 Posted December 8 Advertisement (gone after registration) I use the touch focus for taking photos I will be stacking for increasing depth of field. Yes, usually on a tripod and usually in macro mode. Only recently have I experienced the video mode when I was not expecting it. Not sure why. I think that I am not as religious at keeping to the extended mode as I use to be, or that is what I am gathering from this thread.

To me it happens every so often that I am in video mode and I could not tell when I have swiped nor why it happened. I am in agreement with you. I'd just wish they made going into video mode as difficult as getting focus peaking... haha
