Btw OP I routinely use a m4 and a m4-2 and if one doesn't need ttl metering they still are perfectly reliable cameras for quite a bit less money than a new m6. The m4 tbh looks better built too. Well, the M7 was produced from 2002 to 2018, so they are "newer" than other models. I don't know Leica's stand on servicing them now, but the electronics should still be holding up well. The shutter curtains are released by electromagnets, and I hear of issues when they weren't aligned accurately, and also ferrous particles can be attracted and build up. Mine was made in 2014 and still seems like new. The frame line masks were sticking when I got it, which DAG said was common in Ms of the 21st century. He fixed mine quickly and it's been fine. I don't worry about it - it may well outlast me. I tend to use it more than my 2 M6. Isn't there a practice to repair such goods for 10 years after production ceases? That would be until 2028. Yes, no external vf is rangefinder coupled. Usually for very wide lenses (under 24mm) it doesn't make much of a difference tbh. I zonefocus 21 and 15 with no problem. What I don't love about voigtlander external viewfinders is that the hotshoe isn't really aligned with the lens on the camera, so with ultrawides (21 or less) composition can be a bit of a guess and it's easy to experience bent lines that you didn't thought were there. My Leica 21mm is slightly offset compared to the hotshoe, it still doesn't really align with the lens but it's not as off as the voigtlander 15 and 25 I have. There are a lot of people that don't find it annoying though. For 21 that is my most used wide, I bought a second hand leica 21mm brightline viewfinder like the one in the picture. Bliz Posted November 24 Share #30 Posted November 24 (edited) You can reframe, I don’t find it easy with super wides though, a small movement gives a big difference. I had better luck using the hotshoe finder to understand what’s going to be in the frame but then shooting through the camera finder because it’s parallax correct.
