Wipeout Posted 6 hours ago Share #1 Posted 6 hours ago Advertisement (gone after registration) I’m thinking seriously about getting the Q3 43, as most of my photography is around 50mm using my M10 and Summilux, which I really enjoy. That said, there are occasional times — maybe 5 to 10 percent of my shots — when I need something a little wider, closer to 35mm or even 28mm. Fuji did this really well with the X100V, offering a screw-on wide conversion lens that takes the built-in 35mm equivalent down to about 28mm, with only a minor drop in quality. It’s a simple, clever idea that adds flexibility without changing systems. I’ve searched but can’t find anything similar for the Q3 43. Does anyone know if Leica or a third-party makes a high-quality screw-on wide adapter, or if such a thing is even feasible with the Q3’s optics? It would be useful for those times when stepping back isn’t an option.

EUSe Posted 4 hours ago Share #2 Posted 4 hours ago (edited) I would not recommend any such piece as it would degrade the wonderful apo lens. Leica do not produce any. In many situations stitching in post will do the job - not in all, of course. I ended up purchasing the Q3- 28 as I kept missing a wider angle. Nevertheless the Q 43 is growing on me more and more, even if the Q3-28 is way more versatile. The other direction is no problem, I tested the Elpro 52 macro lens which does a very good job. I think the corners will be a big problem with wide angle conversion lenses. Edited 4 hours ago by EUSe
JNK100 Posted 3 hours ago Share #3 Posted 3 hours ago I think anything like this would degrade the IQ too much and would be a shame. As others have said, the Q3 28 is more versatile and IQ at 50mm is still excellent.
PhotoCruiser Posted 2 hours ago Share #4 Posted 2 hours ago I used several additional wide - angle lenses on my underwater housing and it worked, but most created strong CA or soft corners. Also those where very bulky and heavy, not something i would like to screw in front of my Q2. If you want to try them do extensive tests before you pay, it's in most cases a miss or hit (mostly a miss) except ones designed for a given lens where they can work very well. Honestly i would not invest time for testing and money for a wide-angle converter lens in front of a awesome Leica lens. Chris
