johntech Posted 11 hours ago Share #1 Posted 11 hours ago (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello everyone. Firstly I am new to this forum and would like to say hello from the Yorkshire Dales England! A friend of mine has lent me a Leica Q typ116 for a month and I am hooked. So I am busy selling surplus gear to raise the money to purchase one. In England they sell for between £1500 and £2000 a considerable sum for a 10year old camera. I thought I would contact Leica to see if they still service this model. The answer was unfortunately NO! Therefore it is a bit worrying one could buy a camera which if it went faulty would be a very expensive brick. I'm afraid a Q2 or Q3 is way out of my price bracket. How reliable have users found the Q ? Any thoughts welcome. Edited 10 hours ago by johntech

I've had a Leica 116 for seven years, thousands of frames and no issues. Who at Leica did you speak with. We are a Leica dealer in Canada and deal with Leica USA in New Jersey. According to them they still will service the 116.

Both are incredibly knowledgeable and highly recommended for straight answers. i might add Manchester would obviously be much closer if they recommended dropping it off to them for inspection. DenverSteve Posted 5 hours ago Share #5 Posted 5 hours ago Actually my experience has been that the entire Q line is pretty much bulletproof. Buy one from a dealer (like MPB - there are others) who offer a 6-12 month warranty. Check with the Leica Store in Manchester and see if they have one. PhotoCruiser Posted 2 hours ago Share #6 Posted 2 hours ago Initially i bought in 2019 a Q and 3 months later i could buy a new Q2 and consider the Q2 as a considerable better camera. I would wait to get the money to buy a Q2 and for my use i see no reason for replacing the Q2 with a Q3. Chris
