Advertisement Posted yesterday at 04:02 AM Posted yesterday at 04:02 AM Hi Starbuck, Take a look here How to identify Rigid Summar CHROME vs NICKEL?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Pyrogallol Posted yesterday at 11:52 AM Share #2 Posted yesterday at 11:52 AM Showing a picture here would be interesting, but not conclusive as the colour in the picture can vary. The best way is to compare a “nickel” lens to a chrome one of the same vintage, any model of lens, to see how they look in real life. Then you can see the difference between chrome and nickel finish. PG Black nickel Posted yesterday at 04:45 PM Share #3 Posted yesterday at 04:45 PM It is often stated that chrome has bluish reflections and nickel has yellow/golden reflections. Starbuck Posted yesterday at 04:57 PM Author Share #4 Posted yesterday at 04:57 PM Maybe this comparison with another lens of around the same vintage will tell something. I believe I do see more "yellowishness" in the Summar. What does the different finish do to the respective value of a Chrome vs a Silver/Nickel Summar? (The Hektor here does NOT have a ding in its front flange; I had to reduce the resolution from the original to post.) Welcome, dear visitor! Starbuck Posted yesterday at 04:59 PM Author Share #6 Posted yesterday at 04:59 PM VERY clear demonstration of the difference! Thanks
SpotmaticSP Posted 5 hours ago Share #7 Posted 5 hours ago Advertisement (gone after registration) IMHO you should put it on a camera. The difference will be easy to see (chrome lens on a black + nickel camera, nickel lens on a chrome camera).
Starbuck Posted 5 hours ago Author Share #8 Posted 5 hours ago Let me try that, SpotmaticSP . . .
