kdt Posted yesterday at 01:28 AM Share #1 Posted yesterday at 01:28 AM Advertisement (gone after registration) My chrome 65mm f3.5 Elmar is in need of internal element cleaning. I would like to find a service manual for this lens to ensure the proper procedure. The rear element was an easy job to remove and it has cleaned up very well. The inside of the front element has an issue which I would like to attempt cleaning as well. I have experience with disassembly of lenses and have the appropriate tools. Any knowledge on disassembly of this lens that can be passed on would be appreciated. Welcome, dear visitor! jerzy Posted 20 hours ago Share #2 Posted 20 hours ago I have neither manual nor I worked on Elmar 65mm. But I worked on other Canadian lenses, I assume that the built is similar. Unscrew the conical light shield (arrow), you might have rubber tools for this. Underneath you shall see retainig rings that will allow you to take the glass element out. Welcome, dear visitor! Alternatively, if you are familiar with removing rear elements, you may reach the rear side of first element through the fully opened aperture
 Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! kdt Posted 12 hours ago Author Share #3 Posted 12 hours ago Thanks Jerzy, I have tried to remove the light sheild with my rubber tools but have had to put too much pressure on it to loosen it. There are 3 small set screws which are aft of the aperture ring that may allow removal of the preset diaphragm ring. This might open it up for a better look. I thought I would reach out here to see if anyone has an exploded view or manual first. I suspect that the whole lens assembly along with the diaphragm maybe accessible from the rear of the lens. Hope to find more information before going further.
