Advertisement Posted October 24 Posted October 24 Hi JOE58BC, Take a look here Leica M11 summilux35mm asph Milky Way stack from pre industrial skies In British Columbia . I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
gbealnz Posted October 24 Share #2 Posted October 24 Splendid. I'd always assumed that the 35mm (and many others) would suffer from coma etc, especially in the corners. Was this wide open or stopped down? Wonderful shot.
JOE58BC Posted October 24 Author Share #3 Posted October 24 Down one stop. I could have corrected the small amount of star trail and coma in Pixinsite getting sharp stars but left it. It is the illumination of the mountains from skyglow and milky way that impressed me.

KateStarr Posted November 5 Share #5 Posted November 5 Lovely! I still use my Sony for astro photos, but would love to use my Leica instead. Did you edit to B&W because of the color noise? What program did you use for the image stacking? Thanks!
JOE58BC Posted November 5 Author Share #6 Posted November 5 Quote Did you edit to B&W because of the color noise? What program did you use for the image stacking? I am working on another version. First this is from the M11M so no conversion and full 60mp. Single image is not bad it is just with short exposures to minimize star movement I thought stacking would be fun. I did mess up a bit I think I could have pushed the ISO more with this camera. I used Pixinsite to stack sky the as I have done lots of actual astrophotography in the past. I will post a more polished image and one in color from my M10.
