M10R - LV automatic switch not working

Used the original M20 EVF on my M10R for the first time after many months. The camera only shows LV in the EVF and not on the display although the switch between the two is set to automatic. Same for play, auto review, and menu.

I cleaned the contacts. Did a camera reset. Cleaned the back of the camera. Cleaned the EVF. Nothing helps. Any thoughts/suggestions?

PS: No chance to walk into a Leica dealer.  I am traveling in Bolivia and Peru. Also, cannot test on my M10M which is at home.

Your description of the problem indicates that the proximity sensor in the EVF does not work. Alternatively, the sensor is fooled by some external (or internal) object or phenomenon to think that you have lifted the camera to your eye. Based on a few tests I just made, a reflective object can be about 10cm away from the EVF to trigger the sensor. Any strong sources of IR light nearby?

Thanks.  I tested it in various scenarios (inside, outside) but all the same. Cleaned the EVF because I expected that the sensor may be fooled. Unfortunately, I do not know where exactly the sensor sits.

I found some teardown pictures on the web (https://www.yukosteel.com/2024/05/disassembly-leica-visoflex-typ-020.html). The sensor is apparently above the finder window, behind the black area of the cover glass. Unfortunately it seems that you have a faulty sensor.
