They were exquisite, especially as shown here, in flight mode, rather then landing/takeoff.

It is also wonderful to come across these elusive creatures when in their native habitat. I got a fleeting glimpse of one the other day deep in the wilds of Surrey;

I was on a coach on the M25 going to Heathrow as Concord took off over us, and the sight of her four engines glowing bright red is a memory for life, plus of course the noise!

We are on a (very high) Heathrow flight path, and around the same time every evening the windows would rattle a little as she flew over.

We used to live a lifetime ago in Battersea - Concorde over twice a day. The only plane ever that when you heard it you looked up at the sky to see it!

There are 18 total remaining airframes / locations to collect.

This article popped-up on my laptop not 15 minutes ago(!). Perhaps Big Brother really IS watching us?...

All but one of the 20 Concordes are accounted for. Here’s what happened to the missing plane

Not at all The more the merrier.

The Rabbit Holes I am now investigating as a result of this thread!......😸......

The livery / paint scheme of the 'Brooklands' Concorde had one feature which struck me as being rather odd at the time so...I googled. Interesting point of note!

Here is the innocuous-seeming snap which resulted in the quizzical 'Roger-Moore-esque' eyebrow-raising moment. Spot the Anomaly?......😺......;

I’m not sure whether the anomaly is the BOAC Speedbird….or the use of a lowercase “a” for airways 🤔

Yes; I was thinking about the inclusion of the BOAC 'Speedbird' graphic.

When aircraft allocations were made after the decision had been taken to go ahead with the project BOAC were slated-down to receive six of them with an option for a further two. By the time the aircraft were ready for delivery the merger between BOAC and BEA had taken place and the 'new' client was British Airways. Subsequently, however, and as quoted in the 'Livery' link posted earlier;

"As a result of pressure from BOAC employees, the 'Speedbird' that was part of BOAC’s identity was retained and put at the front of the planes."

Saw Concorde fly over Southend Essex 1986. Southend Air Show. WW11 historic flight, Harrier Vertical Take Off, plus a few other jet fighters..

In my youth(?!) my parents, brother and myself all went - by bus! - from our home in Scotland's central-lowlands on a charter-trip-visit to Turnhouse Airport (now Edinburgh Airport) on (having just checked) the 23rd March 1980 when Concorde was scheduled to make her first 'commercial' landing in Scotland. The landing of an aircraft might seem a rather prosaic, humdrum event but, on that occasion, it was a very newsworthy story which saw a massive turn-out of spectators. Memorable!

Fast-forward the late '90s I was living in Barnes (west London) which is on the flight path for Heathrow Airport. One quickly became accustomed to the noise of 'planes overhead with the sole exception of Concorde as it was SO loud. This was actually welcomed as, habitually, we would all go out into the garden just to watch her as she flew overhead.

I doubt we shall ever see her likes again in the skies.

East Fortune is a lovely little gem of a Museum. Well; not so very little considering it has a Vulcan Bomber on the premises...😸...

For anyone who might be considering visiting the place I would heartily recommend that you do; fascinating collection!

I was in that crowd ... standing to the North of the runway perimeter fence.

I'm sure it is well known, BA still us the Speedbird callsign with air traffic control.

I was to the south! We probably saw each other!!!......😸......

Actually I, for one, didn't know that 'Speedbird' was still in use and, in fact, until reading about the liveries, didn't know the logo even had a name!

As far as Nigel's comments regarding the lower case 'a' it might be down to the name-style logo which BA introduced in 1974 where the words were displayed top-and-bottom (rather than adjacent to one another) where the word (and, it follows, the Identity) 'British' is both large and positioned very much in pride-of-place' whereas the word (in a slighly smaller type-size) 'airways' - without an upper-case A - fits in very neatly underneath;

Interestingly (and as seen once again in the Livery page) when Newell and Sorrell were given the task of refreshing the airways corporate design one aspect of their brief was to soften this sense of 'Britishness'. I quote;

"This was an attempt rid themselves of a stuffy overly British image and become a truly worldwide airline."

Co-incidentally by the time this re-branding was taking place one of my ex-classmates - and still to this day best friends - had been taken-on as the in-house photographer for Newell and Sorrell (I even did some shoots for them myself) and the stories about the discussion processes (i.e. arguments) surrounding, in the main, the "World Images" tail-fin treatment part of the project were extraordinary to put it mildly...just WOW!!!......:o......
