nykv Posted 14 hours ago Share #3 Posted 14 hours ago (edited) Ricoh GR IV was not only available in September, but Ricoh could deliver so many (actually reaching customers in such a short time at high numbers) as to make it to the top 20 group? That's interesting - statistics can sometimes be quite fascinating. For the ones genuinely interested, a link to the source of this bit of info might be informative. Got my IV very early on from Ricoh Europe in France directly - now they're out of stock there too, just like everywhere else. No chance to get a GA-3 lens adaptor (I call it lens protector: never used a Leica X1/2 nor a GR without a similar one) , or a second battery DB-120 anytime soon. It would be interesting to compare the actual sales numbers in the top 20 and compare them to years gone by. I have a suspicion that the digital compact market is starting to grow again. I have seen some teens and twenties around town toting digital compacts in recent months. I came across the concept of 'green photography' at an event in our gallery tonight. A photographer explained that he uses digital negatives to create physical transparencies which can then be projected. I had never heard of this before, but it might catch on with the 'young set', though. William

It might reflect the PREorders of all stores, and not the final sales to individual users. Google translate helps quite well with Japanese. I'm not convinced, that a practically unavailable new camera (Ricoh GR IV) makes it to this list of big sellers of the month. Whenever any a new model appears in Japan first, it is offered on ebay.com with a hefty premium. This is not the case here. Just a matter of curiosity, as this is not my line of business - I gave it a look because I occasionally acquired the latest version of the Ricoh GR line as they became available over the years and never got burned with issues, as with cameras from other brands during their first months of production. I curse to myself if I see a good photograph and realise I'll miss it because I don't have my compact camera in my pocket, completely forgetting I have my iPhone in the other pocket. Actually having a separate camera, particularly one that uses film, is a new and exciting departure for them. The rebirth of compact cameras is based on this. Whether they will ever start buying expensive new system cameras remains to be seen, but a lot of young folk can be seen wielding older 35mm SLRs and, even, little Canonet rangefinders etc. Time will tell. Many thanks and kudos for the info, dear frame-it! It was you, who gave the correct info, that the Nikon rangefinder 1.8/35 optical formula(for which I have a Reissue body and a Cosina-Voigtlaender body, too) is available from Konica. Saw the charts and tested on digital (with Amadeo) = correct! 👍 And the Nikon rangefinder 2,5/35 (which I don't have) is almost unchanged optically in the Nikonos (of which I own a green and an orange one, both my copies never touched water). I'm grateful to you for it. [by the way Tonnes of GR4's in Korea, and GR3x's [that people in the EU were complaining they couldn't get at all] Tonnes of GR4s in Korea?? There are avid resellers there to the US and to the EC. None on ebay.com nor on: .co.uk , .dr , .fr, .it for the GR IV and the new accessories, up to now. 🤗🙏 frame-it! It was made by Polaroid and driven by Harvard Graphics. professors used it to make slides for their lectures. Digital negatives for contact printing are also popular among a very niche crowd. They lend themselves well to slow and fuzzy alternative techniques like cyanotype.
