Alexander108 Posted 12 hours ago Share #1 Posted 12 hours ago Advertisement (gone after registration) I bought a preowned M11 with a shutter count of maybe 40,000. When I did my first pictures using a Leica Summicron 50mm the image field selector did not engage when mounting the lens which led to a wrong set of frame lines. My M10M does not experience any issues with the image field selector when using this very lens. I then found that the lever felt sticky. In the beginning it would even stick in position when you moved it towards the lens mount with no lens mounted. After a few changes of lenses and moving the lever manually quite often the situation gut better. However, you still feel the stickiness (as if a soft drink went in) if you move the lever while gently pushing it towards the body. I now send the camera in to the dealer. As I have no experience with Leica M cameras. Is this an expected behavior or should I ask for a replacement? I can only imagine that having Leica repair it will cost several hundred bucks. jaapv Posted 12 hours ago Share #2 Posted 12 hours ago It is not a major defect and normally a matter of working the system. Worst case a clean and lubricate.

Thank you. How would I be able to lubricate the Mechanism? Given that this is a very delicate mechanism I would not dare to add lubricant to a place I cannot judge. I did clean the lever itself with a IPA cloth (back side of the lever) but that did not help. Working the system brought improvement. I still spent a significant amount of money. Do I have to high expectations? Is this normal after 3y?

They may well deal with it without charge. The warranty in the UK if registered is 3 years so I would hope Leica would sort for you.

I would not advise to undertake lubrcating yourself.
Alexander108 Posted 9 hours ago Author Share #6 Posted 9 hours ago Thank you. As I just bought the camera preowned, I'll return it. It does not make sense to buy a camera and the first thing is send it to Wetzlar.

Alexander108 Posted 8 hours ago Author Share #10 Posted 8 hours ago The second "experience" is related to the M10M not showing this behavior. Maybe my English can be improved.
