Hey everyone have a good day! I'm considering trading my oLeica M8(orginal m8 not m8.2 only body)plus 350$ cash for a Leica Q (specifically the Titanium Gray edition). Does anyone here have experience with the Q and know if it's worth the upgrade from the M8? Also, which one generally holds more value: A boxed Leica M8 or a Titanium Gray Leica Q? Would love some insights on current pricing and value! My brain says trade it because M8 is time bomb(shutter is 16k) and q has great lens ı cant afford leica m lens in that quality maybe Voiglander but I love M8 so I confused please help me

Time bomb at 16.000 actuations? The shutter is rated for 150.000. Shutter counts of over a million have been reported.
NB The Forum does not do valuations. Consult finished auctions on eBay.

Though we might not do valuations, i believe the m8 is on its lowest price point and will not much go down anymore. For the Q I am not sure.

As Jaap said, 16k is basically nothing, so this should not be a reason to sell.

If you love your m8, don’t sell it. You will miss it.

16.000 tetiklemede saatli bomba mı? Deklanşör 150.000'e kadar dayanıklıdır. Bir milyonun üzerinde deklanşör sayısı bildirilmiştir.
Not: Forum değerleme yapmaz. eBay'deki tamamlanmış açık artırmalara bakın.

I know 16.000 is so low but you know m8 has shuter problem.I think m8 is much more special camera but you know Q is tecnically kill the m8.

thanks for advice you are right I love my m8 so much.I'm just afraid that it will break down and I won't be able to afford to buy another one. I live in Türkiye and M's are very expensive here.I am still a student and I started from the bottom and went up to m by buying and selling. Logically, I thought of exchanging, but my heart is with m8.

Not really. I know nothing of a shutter problem. I have not seen a faulty shutter reported for at least fifteen years. The shutter had an internet problem eighteen years ago, triggered by a blogger who had not the foggiest notion of statistics.

Well, I don’t know the state of your wallet but on MPB they are normally below 2000 Euro. At the moment they have a nice black one for 1499

16,000 actuations on a M8 is very little. My M9 has had about 76,000 in the course of 15 years, which is about 5000 images per year, or 13 images per day. The daily shutter count doesn't sound like a lot, but who takes hundreds of images every single day? The M8 has a unique look that the Q does not, and the M8 can switch lenses from characterful to crisp.

The Q will do higher ISO's better than the M8, and autofocus can be very useful if it suits your style of photography. The Q also has video as a potentially useful bonus.

I would say that M8 prices are as low as they will go, which is a touch lower than titanium Q prices right now. Personally, I'd happily buy a titanium Q over a M8, but I own a M9, so the rangefinder needs are met. If I had to make a choice between keeping a low shutter count M8 and getting a titanium Q, I would stick with the M8, as I have taken some beautiful M8 photos that I do not think the Q would, from the way the sensors behave.
