Musotographer Posted yesterday at 09:43 AM Share #1 Posted yesterday at 09:43 AM Advertisement (gone after registration) I have some M9 batteries that I need to check, but no longer have my M9 or its charger - is there anyone local who might be able to help please? I'm in West Dorset.

These batteries will probably need several charge/discharge cycles to allow you to assess what condition they are in. That said, they can be surprisingly long lived - I'm still using some M8 batteries in my M9s quite happily, and whilst they do not hold as good a charge as newer batteries, they are still quite usable. Be aware though that if you want to sell them on you cannot post them easily as they will be used and excluded from being handled by most shippers. Musotographer Posted yesterday at 01:21 PM Author Share #4 Posted yesterday at 01:21 PM Thanks both - I had no idea that there was a problem with posting used batteries. Pedaes - I am hoping that there might be someone near here (DT8) who might be willing to check the batteries in their camera and charge them up for me at least once. I'm not specially bothered about selling them for much, I just find it a shame that they're sitting here doing nothing when someone could be using them. It's getting on for two years since they were last used - but then they were working flawlessly.

I have had one M9 battery 'go off' and this was evident from the lights on the charger flashing alternately. I can lend you are charger as easy to post, but getting camera together with charging several batteries is more of a logistical challenge. Every few months I meet with a 'Leica friend' from Exmouth for breakfast in West Bay so may be able to work something around then, but we do not have a date fixed yet. @Topsy is a big M9 user and may be interested in Batteries. Used lithium batteies are prohibited in the post and by most courier and if you do post used batteries without stating that they are in a package, you risk them being destroyed with no compensation. That said, some companies seem to have obtained some sort of dispensation as I have bought used ones and they do carry a sticker on the package. I'd happily take them off you but I'm pretty far from Dorset and can't see coming down that way in the near future! Thanks for the thought @pedaes but I've already got 4 complete sets for my M9s which I use in rotation, all are in good health.
