I think the main issue here is that the demand for this battery configuration is so small, that it is not commercially feasible for Leica to keep them in stock or for anyone to re-manufacture them as you suggest. It is unfortunate for us Leica collectors that so many different batteries are required to keep some of the older cameras going. One good thing with M240 and family, SCL2 batteries are not dead yet with my many M which use those huge (immortal in my use) batteries.
