Hello all.  My first post and a new owner of a Leica M2 59' era.  I hope this is the right place to ask.  My M2 came with a Summicron 50mm Dual Range lens.  Next to the lens was a push on adapter of some sort <could be wrong.  The ring is aluminum with the outer shape of the DR lens.  It seemed to have a soft inner ring that was pushed onto the lens.  I cannot find a perfect match anywhere and even with Chat GPT plus with no luck.  My thoughts are it's a lens accessory for filters but nothing to attach on the front.  Pictures are attached.  Can anyone validate the exact accessory this is?  I would like to look for the exact one to buy.  Thank you!

The rebate on the inside looks like it may have old glue on it so maybe for a felt ring, adding to the idea it's meant to be a 'push-on' accessory. Maybe if the lens was used with a Visoflex it could be for macro photography for mounting a flash perhaps?

Definitely not a Leitz/Leica product. My only suggestion is that it could be part of a reverse mounting set up for macro work. These were quite common at one time.
