One of my favourite beach finds; Goose Barnacles at Kilmory (south Arran) today. These subtropical creatures settle onto things that float, but do so, way to the south of Scottish/British waters and then get swept up by currents until some get deposited on the shore. I've seen them on many west Scottish beaches but this is a really good example of just how dense they can be. Still just about alive which suggests that the water temperature around Arran is high enough for them to survive in. M9 75/2.5.
